I mean HUGE!!! Answer 1 of 13: Hi everyone, I am sorry if this question offends anyone from Rockford, but I heard that is listed at one of the most dangerous cities in the US. We won't be renting.I will interject this piece of good news though. The trip to Rockford seemed nice enough and I had high hopes, since it seemed that we were going to be here for a few months. Here's An On the Ground Report And it's congested. There are nice subdivisions around the city in unincorporated parts of Winnebago County. You can buy houses or sell houses. Anywhere really outside the main city area.E State street is a main thoroughfare here. You can rent apartments, but houses for rent are rare. Yeah, there are - but for those on a budget, do your homework first. The lady behind the desk was very cordial, but warned that Rockford was in fact the most crime ridden city for it's population size (150k) in the US. Here's An On the Ground Report

It's great. It will take you nearly an hour to get through the whole store on your first trip and it is open 24 hours.

Here's An On the Ground Report Normally, when we travel (and we travel perpetually), I don't ever think about whether I should be checking police blotters before going to a particular place. The prices are great and I can officially stop buying groceries at Walmart now. I will be glad to answer them.Just so you know, this thread is 6 months old..........One doesn't often come across crime per se when living a day to day life. And yes I do feel like I need to be more careful and vigilant when out and about. Outside the motel we hear sirens on a regular basis, it reminds me of Right now gas is running as high as $2.50 a gallon right around where we are staying. I know that a few years ago the city replaced everyone's small(ER) recycling bins with 20-25 gallon recycling buckets to promote recycling. At least what I have been able to find. It has it's own liquor store & meat dept, but no deli or bakery per se.

Robberies, Assaults, Hold-ups, B & E's, etc. I worried about safety also because the area around that part of the river appears quite "vacant" and rundown.
