He was a printer, publisher, writer, scientist, inventor, and activist to name a few of his many roles.One of the more surprising realizations was just how much importance he placed on the idea of self-improvement. At the beginning of each week, he would bring out a fresh form.
He kept track of his progress in a notebook, where he marked his success or failure on every day of every week.Rather than attacking all 13 habits at once, Franklin took them on, one at a time, week by week.
He did it every day, every week, every year.
In truth, Franklin struggled with humility throughout his life, but was always mindful of it.Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.It’s quite the list of virtues and certainly nothing easy to live up to. Ben’s booklet w/ 13 Virtues. A friend pointed out Franklin’s weakness when it came to pride. To that effect, Franklin decided on thirteen virtues which he found particularly desirable. Don’t let them control you.Times have certainly changed, yet the premise is still relevant. Ben Franklin attributed most of his success and happiness to having attempted to become a virtuous man.
